Happy Thursday! We're one day away from our first float trip of the summer, so naturally, this week has gone by slower than nail's pace. I'm packed, ready to go, and ready to kick off our next three weeks of water-filled fun! This month's B Bar Link Up comes at the perfect time. We were asked to share our 'Summer Essentials' and while I could name numerous types of clothes, summer books, and music playlists, I thought this topic would be a good reminder that you're skin is important, especially during the summer months.
I'm half Italian and part Native American so I tan easily. There was a time when I didn't pay so much attention to my skin, went tanning and didn't protect it like I should have. As I get older, I care less about a summer glow and more about not looking old and wrinkled in my later years. I'm all for a little beach babe summer tan, but hopefully these summer essentials are a helpful reminder of how to keep your skin looking beach babe healthy.
- Face Wash: If you aren't washing your face every day, then check this out and reconsider your daily routine. Not only is it gross and bad for your skin, but not removing your makeup can actually age your skin faster. No one wants that. I like Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash because it does the trick without being too rough on your face.
- Moisturizer: Your skin can also dry out in the summer so it's important that you moisturizer your face after you give it a nice wash. I prefer a moisturizer with a little sunscreen in it just so that I have a little protection under my makeup. One of my favorite brands is Yes To Carrots SPF 15 Fragrance-Free Daily Moisturizer because it's not greasy and it's 95% natural.
- Sun Screen: Obviously, sunscreen is one of the best ways to protect your skin when you're out in the sun. Do yourself a favor and grab one with a higher SPF. That doesn't mean you won't get a little color, it only means that it protects you a little longer. I love Nuetrogena Wet Skin Sunblock for when I'm going to be in the water. It lasts longer in the water and with sweat. It's definitely a must for humid Missouri summers. In addition to sunscreen for your body, I like to have a Banana Boat Sports Stick on hand for my face and harder to protect areas like your ears. There's nothing worse than spraying sunscreen on your face and getting it in your eyes. The stick makes applying sunscreen much easier.
- Water: Whether you're going out shopping, lounging at the pool or just taking a stroll down your street, it's a great idea to carry around a bottle of water with you. Hydration is key to keeping your skin looking healthy and happy. Find a water bottle that you can easily refill so that you're not spending a small fortune on bottled water.
